The rumor that refuses to die. Rumors of a motion sensing controller from Microsoft have been roaming their way around the interwebs for a very long time now and had died down a while after no reveal at E3. But now it begins again. A source close to Xbox360fanboy has informed them that the rumored $199 Xbox 360 that may releasing this Fall will come packaged with the controller and include motion-controlled mini-games developed by Rare. With the Tokyo Game Show approaching next month, perhaps that will be the event that Microsoft chooses for the “Darwin’s” proper unveiling.

In most video games, the main protagonist and sometimes antagonist, always has a sidekick, their most loyal companion that is generally always by their side. GameGirl has acknowledged this fact and lists the Top 7 Video Game Sidekicks, which includes Kazooie and Diddy Kong among five other well-known characters, like Yoshi.

Is anyone else tired of hearing this? Everyone is always speaking of the Rare’s “alleged” downfall but I’ve yet to see where they’ve ever fallen? Sure, and I openly admit, that Perfect Dark Zero didn’t live up to expectations. At all. This I believe was due in part to just some really bad decisions made with the game. But one game that still managed to be Rare’s best selling game since their purchase that still isn’t terribly awful, and Rare has fallen and lost their charm? Hardly. Kameo, Grabbed by the Ghoulies and Viva Pinata has shown that they have are from down and out and Viva 2 and Banjo will prove this more.

Sure, the 20 games listed for VGPlayer’s Top 20 Definitive Nintendo Developed Titles are all…Nintendo titles of course; however, included below the top 20 are honorable mentions of second and third party developed titles. For Rare, the list included Slalom, RC Pro Am, Goldeneye, Blast Corps and Donkey Kong Country 2.
Anyone ever played Slalom? I’m not even sure what it is about…

It has been nearly two years since Eurogamer’s last ‘Rare Special’ on Eurogamer TV. The first time they were there to preview and discuss all things Viva Pinata. In their latest Rare Special, both Trouble in Paradise and Nuts & Bolts are detailed with discussions with several Rare employees including Justin Cook, Mark Betteridge, Salvatore Fileccia, and more. Old and new footage is shown of both titles, including the first ever footage of multiplayer for each. It’s a very interesting and entertaining video, the end in particular…after the credits. Rare’s created Avatar system will launch with the ‘New Xbox Experience’ Dashboard update sometime this Fall. The Avatars are somewhat similar to the Miis that will allow you to customly create a life-like Avatar that you can dress, change its hairstyles, height and width and much more. Rare even brought in young fashion graduates to ensure the best quality of the experience.
"Although we’ve built them, the source and ideas for the designs come from fashion graduates," Sutherland says. Musgrave elaborates: "We didn’t feel qualified as a bunch of developers to make the decisions ourselves. We thought hard about the best way to do it, and got in a bunch of people who were younger, much trendier, much more interesting in a fashion sense." Just so. "That’s the overriding thing about the whole avatar project: the underlying character represents you in some way, and communicates your personality in some way on Live, so you can change what you wear as easily as you would with a real-world wardrobe." IGN has played a bit more of Banjo this week at the Leipzig Games Convention in Germany. They were given a drive-through tour of Jiggoseum this time around where they viewed a couple of new challenges that involve ski jumping and dominoes. A bit more of Showdown Town was revealed as well with the vehicle now including the unlockable ’sticky tires’ that allows steep inclines to be traversed. Learn more via IGN’s short-but-sweet preview.
