Microsoft will also be restructuring the studio in order to simplify development. Rare is currently working on four different projects, one of which, at least, we hope to learn more about later this year.

Grabbed by the Ghoulies on Xbox LIVE Marketplace

February 22nd, 2009 by hylian1

Released last Monday as a digital download on the LIVE Marketplace, Grabbed by the Ghoulies hopes to succeed as an Xbox Original where it severely failed at retail when released for the Xbox in 2003. Ghoulies pits plays as a young man named Cooper whose girlfriend is kidnapped by a pack of ghoulies at the doorstep of a dastardly mansion. Cooper must fight his way through the mansion using a plethora of items from pool sticks to hamburgers and even occasionaly beating an enemy senseless with its own arm!

Grabbed by the Ghoulies can be downloaded for 1200 Microsoft Points and requires 2GB of memory. If enough downloads are made, then there is a possibility for a sequel, as an interview with several members from the Ghoulies team suggests.

Rumor: Goldeneye XBLA Achievements Revealed

February 1st, 2009 by hylian1

For those of you who are not yet aware, Destructoid revealed on January 30th what may be/have been the achievements for the Xbox LIVE Arcade version of Goldeneye 007. True or not? Given that the game was nearly finished before it was allegedly cancelled, it is certainly plausible that the list is indeed legit. Destructoid is usually a legit source for information as far as I know, so I don’t think they would post it if there wasn’t some bit of truth to it.

Now, as many of you may know, a little over a year ago, we here at Rare-Elite created a petition to have Goldeneye released on the XBLA surfaced shortly after news of its announcement and ‘cancellation from 1up. It spread across the internet like a wildfire gaining attention from a variety of media outlets and was recognized by both Microsoft and Rare. Since then, the petition has managed nearly 25,000 signatures and still continues to accumulate some today. In fact, there has been nearly an additional 100 sigs in the past couple of days.

I know that many people say “online petitions never work”. Many of you here have said it last time and many, many others elsewhere have said it as well. It isn’t about whether or not the petition actually works or not though, it is about gaining attention and letting our voices be heard about a subject that we care for.

View the achievements to see what may have been and what could still be and then, if you so wish to do so, sign the petition and tell your friends, family, and people across the interwebs to do so as well.
