Banjo an RTS? Hmmm

April 9th, 2008 by hylian1

There seems to be quite a debate going on about whether or not the new Banjo game will be an RTS or not. Unfortunately, the majority of the fans in the debate are looking at the ‘Banjo an RTS’ in the wrong way. But will the game be an RTS? It absolutely will and it absolutely won’t. Here’s why…

Think of an RTS. What do they involve more than anything else? Strategy. Take Fire Emblem and Advance Wars for instance. They both require strategy to successfully complete the levels throughout the games. The way you strategize can either make the level easy or can make it hard. Wait a minute….doesn’t that sound familiar?

Scribes: "the player will determine the difficulty level by how they approach the Jiggy tasks"

Well I’ll be. That sounds just like an RTS, doesn’t it? So you see, while the game won’t be a full-blown RTS, it’ll contain RTS elements such as what Rare said in Scribes as quoted above. So with the combination of those elements mixed with a platformer, Banjo will essentially appeal to both the "casual" and "hardcore" players with varying difficulties throughout the adventure while still maintaining the ‘essence of a Banjo game’.

Make sense? It should.

Hmm,I’m not much of a fan of RTS games.I really hope that if Rare does put in RTS elements it’s not too much.

    No. Just no. HELLZ NAH!
Seriously though, there wont be any RTS type things in the game.
Oh, but how I wish Rare would give us a straight up platformer. I mean, they’ve had 8 yrs to think of shit, and they still wont give us what we want?

Well, doi. That doesn’t make it an RTS, by using that quote and saying that, you might as well call Mario Galaxy an RTS.

Obviously, it you have to climb a mountain, and one side has boulders constantly falling down it and the other side is clear, one side is easier.
