Banjo plot “revealed”

April 1st, 2008 by hylian1

In response to the rumors that Rare would be revealing Banjo news of some sort today, Rare surprisingly did just that by "revealing the game’s plot". Why the quotations? Rare figured it would be quite hilarious if they teased us with the new plot by forcing us to guess which ‘plot’ is the real one from five differenct scenarios:

Rumour One: Banjo and Grunty team up against a new threat, falling in love in the process.
Sexy post-transformation Grunty makes a return and proves irresistible to our heroic bear, much to Kazooie’s disgust. Can the mismatched trio defeat their fire-breathing foe?

Rumour Two: Kazooie is abducted by aliens and Banjo heads out to search the cosmos.
Partway through his low-gravity exploits, he discovers who’s taken her… and it’s a familiar face from the Rare archives who has been ‘turned to the green side’ by Grunty.

Rumour Three: Banjo and Kazooie travel back through time in pursuit of the witch’s giant T.I.T.
Grunty drives her Time Interfering Truck back to before the bear and bird met. The duo must reintroduce themselves and relearn everything they know in a completely new way!

Rumour Four: Banjo comes out of retirement to stop his home being redeveloped into tower blocks and malls.
To end the struggle, a capricious higher power engineers a bear/witch showdown through worlds of the imagination – with Spiral Mountain’s ownership deeds going to the victor.

Rumour Five: War comes to Spiral Mountain, and Banjo becomes a reluctant leader.
Ever seen a Jinjo Tank? Or Grunty’s Grappling Grenadier Grunts? You will when you take on our innovative RTS-platformer hybrid campaign.

I think it’s a pretty safe bet to scratch out numbers one and four. They make absolutely no sense and in no way could possibly be the plot for Banjo-Threeie. Number two sounds kind of fishy and would lack the uniqueness Rare is aiming for by being instantly labeled as a ‘Super Mario Galaxy’ clone. But numbers three and five? Highly plausible. Everything we’ve know so far seems to point toward time travel and the addition of chasing Grunty’s T.I.T is quite the innuendo that we’ve come to recognize from Rare. Number five, however, touts the “Banjo isn’t your traditional platformer” that they announced in February’s Scribes.

So which one is it? If you saw Banjo 360 in stores at this very moment, which plot would be expecting to ensue when you flop the game into your Xbox?

I still think its number 5…
Or its none of them and Rare is just messing with our heads again. :/

  2. Crystal Bear Says:

3, 4 and 5 seems like the most possible choices…

  3. magic Says:

Rumor 3 seems spot-on perfect and the others all seem completeley ridiculous…

The only part that bugs me is the T.I.T… That seems like a little too much for a kids game…

  4. Banjo-Conker Says:

I’m goin’ with #3, for reasons already stated in that wonderful, wordy paragraph up thar. ;)

  5. magic Says:

Now that I think about it, 3 is kind of like Grunty’s Revenge…
#4 fits with the info we have gotten so far. 5 maybe. I’m gonna say 4 final answer!

  6. Lupaie Says:

2 would be a Mario Rippoff in space. All little worlds in worlds ….:S

  7. DustinTheWind Says:

I’m not really sure what to think yet, so I’ll just throw out some food for thought…

    1. Possible, actually. They said Banjo falls for Grunty. Never said the feelings were reciprocated. Perhaps part of the game hinges on her getting him to do her evil for her. Plus the “fire-breathing foe” would explain “Conflagration Violent.”

    2. Two words: Mario Galaxy

    3. They already did that in “Grunty’s Revenge”. Plus the interview here (http://www.spiralmountain.co.uk/site_viewnews.asp?id=152) says that Rare found time travel “too cliche`.” Plus, like magic said, there’s the TIT issue. Rare already said they were aiming at an E rating.

    4. I can’t think of any reason that it CAN’T be this one, but I can’t think of any reason that it COULD either.

    5. Possible, and the RTS mechanic would answer many of the cryptic statements already given. However Rare has said that a) they want to stick to the roots (although they also said it would be different. Paradoxy.) and b) I seem to remember them saying in an interview that Jamjars was gone. Jamjars is a perfect fit for a supporting character in an RTS. Why would they can im if they wee making one?

  8. Banjo-Conker Says:

Regarding the “T.I.T.” issue, ’tis like Hylian said. Ever since the first title in the series, Rare’s always had that bit of innuendo, though I will admit that this one is a bit ‘out there’.

  9. Banjo-Conker Says:

Guess that’s kinda the point. :D

  10. banjokonspirazy Says:

Didn’t they already say that the third game occurs AFTER banjo tooie? Therefore, I think the timetravel one is out. I DO NOT think that Banjo could fall for Grunty, however perhaps she does have a new minion who used to be good- they said that an element of one of the rumours could be true.

  11. GFH Says:

It’s probably down to 3 or 5. Both have many reasons to be true.

  12. GFH Says:

Isn’t this an April Fools joke?

  13. jinxt631 Says:

all i know is it better be as good as it gets god knows we deserve it “Banjo”
