A Deal that shook the industry

July 25th, 2008 by Daniel Duncan

September 2nd, 2002. I’m sure many of you remember that day…I know I do. It’s the day it was announced that Rare became a first party company for Microsoft Game Studios for the breathtaking sum of $375 million dollars. I cried that day. Even printed out multiple copies of the article for my folder and to hang on the wall. Of course, I’m over it now and fully support Rare’s development on the Xbox and Xbox 360. Who else here remembers and how did you feel?

Yeah, I was kinda surprised that Nintendo had decided to hand over Rare to Microsoft, but I am still optimistic knowing that Rare can deliver great quality games.
