Microsoft Lay-Offs Strike Rare Studios

February 22nd, 2009 by hylian1

Gamesindustry.biz reports that Rare has axed 12 positions in their artist and engineering departments as a part of Microsoft’s massive lay-off of 5000 employees. Microsoft will also be restructuring the studio in order to simplify development. Rare is currently working on four different projects, one of which, at least, we hope to learn more about later this year.

I was really worried about this. Hopefully the people axed weren’t incredibly crucial and their work can be compensated for. =/
