Lost to Antiquity

March 27th, 2008 by hylian1

There are, literally, tens of thousands of video games that have been developed over the past thirty years. So it doesn’t come as much of a surprise that a lot of those games have aged quite terribly when compared to today’s standards. GamesRadar took a stabe at ten of those games that have been "lost to antiquity". How does Rare fit into this? With Perfect Dark Zero naturally.

PDZ in all actuality really has aged fairly bad in comparison to a lot of other games released this generation, though I suppose a bit of slack could be given considering it was a launch title afterall. But still, opting for characterization that reminds me of plastic barbie dolls wasn’t the best design choice in my opinion. Hopefully with the next installment Rare will return the franchise to its Goldeneye/Perfect Dark 64 roots, then perhaps won’t see it condemned to one of these lists…

I don’t agree with that list. Yup, there’s a few games they list there that were great in his moment but not so much now, but c’mon!

Super Mario 64? I still play it from time to time, and i enjoy it like the first time i played it.

Oblivion? That game is heaps more open worldish than the other tens of thousands of other rpgs around here, and is the only one listed.

PDZ? Of course the character art isn’t the best around here, i’ll be honest, i don’t like it, too cartoonish, but the game is really good, it has some of the best graphics around, no game has the same level of texture quality at least for me. It’s fun playing co-op with a bud, and the weapons are fun to use.

What about the other really bad FPS? haven’t they aged? What about Halo 3? I mean, it was big fun the first 5 months of Halo 2, but then it got boring, and Halo 3 is the same game, i got bored after a week of playing it.
